I was watching the fellowship today thinking that that scene at Bree where Frodo meets Aragorn for the first time and he uncloaks his hood; "are you frightened?" "yes" "not nearly frightened enough... i know what hunts you" is probably my favourite scene from the entire trilogy. i just love it- Aragorn comes seemingly out of nowhere and they don't know whether to trust him, but they don't have any other option but to.

So, hence the thread.... what's your favourite scene from any of the three films?

The one at the end of the 3rd movie where Sam and Frodo have a pseudo-homoerotic moment before Frodo goes to the land of the elves.

Oh wait....that was my LEAST favorite.

either aragorn's speech and "for frodo," or when gandalf talks about pitying gollum in moria.

That scene near the end of The Two Towers when Gandalf and the Rohiriim are charging down the mountain into the Uruk-Hai.

ROTK- When Faramir and his company charge to retake Osgilliath, Pippin is singing as Denethor eats. I thought that was beautiful scene...Billy Boyd's voice is gorgeous.

Also when Arwen is leaving for the Grey Haven's and she has a vision of her future if she stays and weds Aragorn...anyway she sees her child, realising it his her son with Aragron, so it makes her turn back to Rivendell to face Elrond her father, as he knew about this but did not tell her.

Heh, that's such a chick scene. Whenever I see it, I think, " Holy moley, she is really awkward on camera! "

My favorite scene is the whole time in Moria with the Nazgul, the hordes of orcs, and the tomb scene. The ogre was pretty awesome too.
I need to get those movies. :P

There were no Nazgul in Moria. The Balrog was in Moria, though.

The Fellowship vs. The Uruk-Hai at the end of the first film, particularly Aragorn's brief yet violent tangle with the guy that killed Boromir and his subsequent dialogue with the dying Boromir. The setting, the pacing, the emotion...it's all 100% beautiful.

i have a few favorites, but no one's mentioned this one yet.

the scene found in the extended edition of the two towers... the boromir flashback scene where boromir and faramir are seen together in osgiliath, and boromir is sent to rivendell.

Hmm either any given Shire seen, or the huge crumbling staircases in the mines of Moria.

Yeah, I was thinking about the Nazgul scenes when I was typing that. My bad.

Oh yeah, my other favorite part that no one has mentioned is when the Ents fight back and start throwing the boulders, and break the dam. I love the idea of nature fighting back, especially how the whole beginning they were reluctant to battle the dark wizard ( I can't really remember his name. It's been a while ).

i dunno why, but two scenes that have always stuck with me since my first view arent great...but in the 1st when Legolas stabs an orc with an arrow then loads it and kills another in the woods is sweet....then when they are protecting Helms and Legolas slides down the stairs on the shield and fires like 5 arrows....good stuff.
