Is the guy who did Amores Perros Argentinian? If so, I'll be seeing that one soon, so I can give you an opinion.
No, it's a Mexican film.
But I loved it. It's not difficult to understand but it's deep in some way. You should watch it... is a really good movie
Argentinean films... there are lots of good movies. I don´t know what kind of movies you like better, because most of it is independent so it's nothing to do with Hollywood kind of movies, do you know what I mean?
But to start I would recommend you "Nine queens". Why? Because it's not a complex movie and you will sure like it, because the story is GREAT One of the actors is Ricardo Darín, who is very famous here.
Another movie to start is "Son of the Bride" -that´s the English title- (El Hijo de la Novia), with Darín too, and two GREAT actors: Norma Aleandro and Hector Alterio. This one is more sensitive, but you will like it too.

I like independent style films more than big productions. Anything with a great story, great direction, and good performances is something I'll like.
So I will recommend you one of my favourites
The Original title is "Historias minimas", but in IMDB and AllMovie I found two different English titles
IMDB: "Minimal Stories" AllMovie "Intimate Stories"
If this is not the best independent film, it's almost there.
It's in the end of the world, the very south of Argentina. Beautifull, please try to find it. You will love it

Ok, I will continue suggesting movies for you to see, but I can realize not many people are interested in "foreign" movies.
This movie is called "Hermanas" and it's really interesting because the same problem is focused from another point of view: it's during 1984 (the movie is 2004) and it's the story of two sisters who see each other after 8 years.
Natalia is the youngest one and he is visiting Elena, her older sister... Natalia has bad memories from the last Argentinean dictatorship and Elena has a secret that cannot be told.
It's interesting because in Argentina there are many movies about the last dictatorship (Videla), but this one is a look about what happened after the thing, and how this affected people, this movie in special... this two sisters.
