Has anyone checked out North Country yet? I was actually very surprised and thought it was pretty good. I wouldnt pay full price to see it, but paying $6.25 during the day was a deal.
I just realized that this post was totally pointless and added nothing to this board at all.

Isn't the soundtrack supposed to be a bunch of Dylan songs, even a new one? I thought I read that somewhere. *goes to check*

I really enjoyed this movie. For me, the father stole the show - the scene with him in the union meeting had me crying like a baby. However, I did find it a bit slow at times and the ending left me feeling.. I don't know, a little unsatisfied. But overall I didn't feel like the movie was a waste of money, like I did with Elizabethtown. Bleck.

I agree that parts of it were a little slow. I really could have done without the whole story line between her and her son. It didnt really add much in my opinion, and had they cut most of his crap out, the movie could have been like 1:45 instead of just over 2 hours.

Bob Dylan has written and recorded the new song 'Tell Ol' Bill' for the movie 'North Country starring Charlize Theron, Frances McDormand, Sissy Spacek, and Woody Harrelson.
The movie plot centers around Dylan songs and takes its name from his classic 'Girl From The North Country'.
The soundtrack will feature his other classic 'Lay Lay Lay', 'Sweetheart Like You' and the lesser known 'Do Right To Me Baby (Do Unto Others) as well as rare covers of 'Girl From The North Country' recorded by Leo Kottke and a very early and little known Dylan composition 'Paths of Victory' by Cat Power.
The movie is based on the book 'Class Action: The Landmark Case That Changed Sexual Harassment Law," by Clara Bingham and Laura Leedy Gansler. It is about a court room victory in the first sexual harassment case.
Chalize Theron plays Josey Aimes, a single mother with two children, returns to her hometown in Northern Minnesota after a failed marriage. Seeking work in the iron mines, the predominant source of employment in the region, she finds a male-dominated world where the last thing the miners want is women competing for scarce jobs, women who, according to long-held chauvinistic attitudes, have no business blasting rock or driving trucks. The few women who manage to get jobs in the mines are subjected to pornographic taunts and brutality from a work-force threatened by their very presence.

Its on her covers album, which is a great album anyway, so you might as well get that.

How was Frances McDormand's performance? I'm always interested to see her work since she is the aunt of one of my very good friends. Plus i think she's a great actress.
