Has no one seen this yet? I'm looking forward to it and was expecting a bunch of reviews this morning but, oh well.

Saw it last night, it thought it was good, but I dont know about great. The boat scene was good and different from the original, just like the rest of the movie. Without giving too much away, there is a different ending, the American kids are really annoyning, and you cant even tell that Depp is Willy Wonka, it could have been someother actor with all the makeup and difference in voice. I can watch the original every time its on TV, I dont know if I could do that with this one. It did have a preview for the new Tim Burton animated film Corpse Bride.

Saw it last night as well. I actually liked it a lot. It was funny, creative, and was faithful to the original movie.

AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT THINKS JIM CARERY SHOULD'VE PLAYED AS WILLY WONKA?

As soon as I saw the preview for the movie, I thought it was Jim Carrey with a ton of makeup. I was shocked when I found out it was Depp. He can't act goofy, and Carey can show serious emotion when he wants to.

Great movie, wrong actor.

You may be right about this movie but I haven't seen it yet but I did see Pirates of the Carribean and Depp was very goofy in that role and great at it. I sure don't like saying this about Burton because he is great, but maybe it was the direction or just Depp's take on the character as he saw it.

I had no desire to see it, but my girlfriend went to see it last night. She said it was really good. Quite different from the original, which she wasn't too crazy about, but overall she thinks they pulled it off quite well.

I still have no desire to see it.

Not to mention he was a bit on the goofy side in Edward Scissorhands.

Besides, it's a Burton film. Nobody should be shocked that Depp is the lead actor.

I thought it was fantastic. I loved the entire movie. There is nothing I could complain about. They pulled off the remake with flying colors and it certainly brought back a lot of memories.

Although Jim Carrey would've been a good choice for the role, I thought Depp was outstanding. I read one article that said he resembles Michael Jackson in the way he talks sometimes. I had to laugh because it was kind of true.

I put my review in the Tim Burton thread. Here's what I said:

I just saw "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and loved it. Definitely better than the 1971 film. Although Gene Wilder pretty much owns the role of Wonka, the new film captures the spirit of Dahl's book much better.

I also saw a trailer for "Corpse Bride," which looks badass.
