LOS ANGELES, California — April 11, 2005 — ZU33 has recently optioned the award-winning book LORDS OF CHAOS, published by Feral House Press, for a narrative film treatment. Director Hans Fjellestad and Producer Ryan Page are currently working on the screenplay with Writer/Publisher Adam Parfrey.

Equal parts music, true crime, occult, and subcultural anthropology, the book by Michael Moynihan and Didrik Søderlind chronicles the Norwegian Black Metal music scene in the early 1990's. Since that time, nearly 100 churches have been torched and desecrated by adherents of Black Metal, the most extreme form of underground music on the planet. In an escalating unholy war, Black Metal bands and their obsessive fans have left a grim legacy of suicide, murder and terrorism spreading from Norway to Germany, Russia, America and beyond. The feature film will focus on the relationship between legendary figures Varg Vikernes and Euronymous and the rest of the "Black Circle" as they wage war against the powers that be in their native country.

Good book, but I can't see the Varg/Euronymous story panning out on film.

It will suck.

People have created too much drama over the whole thing. They were all kids. I'm sure the reality of the situations were much less sinister, premeditated and poignant than the "fans" and media have made them out to be.
It was a bunch of dumbass kids running around and people put all of this romantic symbolism to it as if they were carrying on the torch (no pun intended) of their fallen gods. Kids are fucking dumb. End of movie.
My old drummer spoke to Hellhammer at a Mayhem show and he said that the book is blown way out of proportion. The author supposedly took some liberties with the facts.

Still, very addictive book. How much of it is truth is certainly suspect but it is entertaining nonetheless. Hmm... kinda like the bible...

Here's to wishing Leonardo DiCaprio plays Varg.

Has anyone read the updated version? Apparently, there was more content added a year or two ago. I seem to have misplaced my old copy so I'm wondering if it is worthwhile for me to get the updated one?
