Well, I watched Saw again this morning to refesh myself for the impending sequel opening this weekend. I have to say, I was very skeptical about the sequel, especially since it's been less than a year since the original came out, but the trailers and early hype so far looks good. Plus, it's opening Halloween weekend and who am I kidding, I'm going to see this!

It looks alright...too many people though it looks like. The other one was cool becasue there was a very small number of people involved, this one has like a room full of people. Could make it get confusing and convoluted. Getting it out Halloween weekend was smart, they will make their money right there...let us know how it is!

My personal experience with seeing the first Saw has a special personal meaning to me so to see the sequel this Friday, almost one year exactly after the first one is kind of a big deal to me. I just hope it delivers the goods.

Why did they have to make this movie a sequel? Why couldn't they just come up with another character and make a new movie? It's a horror movie where people are killed by devices. It's not like it hasn't been done before, why make a franchise of it now?

I went to see the movie on the sole premise that I was going to get to see the guy from A Princess Bride saw his foot off. Everything about that movie was a disappointment.

I watched Saw I last night for the first time.
I thought it was great. Totally entertaining. The movie flew by. It had me pretty much enthralled the whole way through. I did not see that coming at the end.
I'm looking forward to the next one.

The first one was good but had some major flaws, specifically the shots during the car chase, they were just stupid and poorly done. I don't like the idea of a large group of people and the ensemble looks kind of shitty compared to the first movie. Elwes and the other main character were really goods together, and this cast looks kind of annoying. But I'll still see it anyway.

Some spoilers may lie ahead....
Saw it last night and I have to say it was better than I was expecting. Basically, fans of the first are going to be entertained. If you didn't like the first one, then don't bother.
With that said, I liked that the sequel took a different direction than the first one. The pace was faster, the kills were bloodier and within the first 20 minutes we're already face to face with Jigsaw. I have to say, I wasn't really expecting it to play out like that. Some of the kill/torture devices were mucho nasty, and the scene with the pit of hypodermic needles had me squirming in my chair. Also, I really enjoyed that they connected this movie to the first one as a true sequel, brining back some of the sets and characters (the one that lived anyway) instead of just making it another slash by numbers. On the other hand, while I enjoyed the idea of having the large group in the house as opposed to Jigsaw offing them one by one, it definitely took away any hope of getting to know these characters or feel much for some of them but I thought it served the concept well.
All in all, while it's certainly flawed I thought it was pretty good for a sequel put on a rail to be out in less than a year after the original, and for better or worse I'd say that Saw is officially a franchise film. While it's not one for the ages, as long as they can keep them as entertaining and bloody as this one I'd be happy to start making Saw a Halloween tradition.

I'm seeing this tomorrow, definitely excited. I LOVED the first one, some creepy shit in that movie. Maybe I'll rent it tonight to prepare myself.
Anyway, one thing that's bugging me about the new one is the trap. I mean, poison gas There's no scare factor there at all.
That part was actually cooler than what I was expecting too, since it's not just poison gas. It's basically just there to establish the time limit element, there are plenty of other traps.
