This movie looks so fucking retarded I could kill the cast. They constantly play commercials for it on MTV, like a teenage viewership will go see a movie-musical about gays, bis, and trannies.

Have any of you had the misfortune of seeing one of the commercials? I think the part in Team America with " Everybody's got AIDS! " is based on the original play.

This thread somehow reminds me of that moment in Family Guy where Peter drives into Cats...

I went to see the musical a while back. My wife likes musicals and plays but she hated Rent. I won't be seeing it.

Two more days...

I've seen the musical three times. It's a great piece of work.

While musicals tend to "hit you over the head" with their lyrics and messages, Rent is still the bomb-diggity.

It's made for ... "eternal possimists" 8)

I have to thank this play for telling me how many minutes are in a year. Over and over and over and over.....

I hate hate hate Rent, it annoys the absolute shit out of me. Having to hear a bunch of theater kids quote THE ENTIRE THING was one of the absolute worst experiences of my life.

RENT was one of the few musicals I've been to that I actually liked. I tend to avoid musicals if possible, but my wife wanted to see it. I thought it was good as far as musicals go, but I won't be seeing he movie...it wasn't that good.

I've seen the musical. It wasn't my thing but I've seen worse.

When I lived in New York I went to my share of musicals and enjoyed them. I did not see this one though. I just have no urge to see it. I'm sure my wife will drop this in the blockbuster online queue when it makes it to DVD so I guess I'll post about it when that happens in 6 months or so.

Haha,

I was once in a class that was a mix of English students and Drama students as the result of some administrative screw-up.

You could smell the animosity in the air during every class.

Geez, you're a cynical bunch.

When I first saw the musical, I thought it was just OK, but after I got to know the music...damn.

"Life affirming" is a bit cliche, but it fits.

This musical / movie certainly isn't for people who like to bitch and moan about how shitty life is.... 8)

No day but today, y'all.... :)

Artist: Trey Parker Lyrics
Song: Everyone Has AIDS Lyrics

Everyone has AIDS!
AIDS AIDS AIDS!
AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS!
Everyone has AIDS!

And so this is the end of our story
And everyone is dead from AIDS
It took from me my best friend
My only true pal
My only bright star (he died of AIDS)

Well I'm gonna march on Washington
Lead the fight and charge the brigades
There's a hero inside of all of us
I'll make them see everyone has AIDS

My father (AIDS!)
My sister (AIDS!)
My uncle and my cousin and her best friend (AIDS AIDS AIDS!)
The gays and the straights
And the white and the spades

Everyone has AIDS!
My grandma and my dog 'ol blue (AIDS AIDS AIDS)
The pope has got it and so do you (AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS)
C'mon everybody we got quilting to do (AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS)
We gotta break down these baricades, everyone has
AIDS! x 20

I can only assume this is a jab at rent. I've never seen it but it seems like it fits.

I know that much. I am very familiar with Team America. It's rent that I know nothing about. I'm not the "musicals" type.

'twas pretty good. Not as impressive as the musical, but good.

I'm a sucker for the "no day but today" philosophy....

I had the misfortune of seeing an E behind the scenes on it. They had some fucking stupid ass dancing in a subway. A black dude was dancing around with a transvestite gross dude in pumps. I felt like drowning myself in vomit.
