Forgive me RM gods for quoting Fox News, but:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,176988,00.html

You read it here first: Lenny Kravitz is now in talks to play Jimi Hendrix in a biopic of the most famous guitarist in rock history.

Sources tell me that Kravitz has secured the dramatic rights to Hendrix’s music through his estate, and that his plan is to make his acting debut with the independent film.

Lee Daniels, who directed the forthcoming "Shadowboxer" and produced "Monster’s Ball," is said to be the producer/director.

Kravitz is a natural to play Hendrix, from his look to his musical ability. And he may have the acting gene since his mother, the late Roxie Roker, was a star of "The Jeffersons" on TV in the 1970s.

One thing the producers might have to do during post-production is eliminate Lenny’s many trademark tattoos. This is a lesson for all you kids out there getting tats: one day you may not want them. They’re not easy to eliminate.

I remember many years ago (94-95?) Laurence Fishburne was supposedly going to produce and star in a Hendrix biopic which obviously never happened. I wonder if they'll have Lenny play right-handed and then just reverse the film so it looks like he's playing lefty.

i guess i should've posted this when i first saw it a few days ago.

funny thing is, i got into an argument with a co-worker about whether kravitz plays lefty. so, i yahooed his name for pics.

well, he's righty.

but, more telling of this man is that the first two pages contained only about two pics of him playing guitar - the rest were model or award show pics of him being primped up.

funny stuff.

Like I said, Kravitz sucks. I remember watching his Live 8 performance (maybe it was the rockin in the park thing for the Queen of England or something) and being completely embarassed for the musical community.

I think Mos Def could pull it off. Kravitz sucks and would be embarrassing. If he stars in it I expect the movie to be the same

Wasn't there a rumor that Andre 3000 was going to play Jimi in a movie? I always thought that would be a good fit.

I loved the quote I heard on a morning radio show about this. The guy was like "I think it could work, I mean Kravitz has based his whole career on pretending to be Hendrix."

I could really see Andre 3000 in the role, him or perhaps Mos Def, but not Kravitz

Yeah, i guess things have changed, or maybe it is a different film all together. I'm not sure about Andre 3000's acting ability, but he could definetly pull off the stage presence.

Not that I'm a big Kravitz fan, but he is the obvious choice for this part.

Because he's black and plays guitar?

Who would you rather have? Leon?
