I think a strong argument can be made that this is the most inventive Simpsons episode ever. Just pure genius.

"But wreckless spending and interracial homoeroticism were just chapter one of the Encyclopedia Selfdestructica."

Discuss.

It only looks good because it aired during one of the later seasons. It's pretty funny, but really just average compared to anything from seasons 3-6.

I disagree. I recognize the fall of The Simpsons. However, I've got every season on DVD that's been released. I've seen numerous episodes over and over and over. Behind the Laughter holds up. I'm not saying it's the best episode ever, just the most ingenious idea. It's freaking fantastic.

I agree... this is one of the all time great episodes. And it would have been the perfect way to end the series.

Do you actually want to continue to watch it die for another ten years? Most of the episodes now are just so bad, it tarnishes the whole history of the show.

I would have to agree with that as well. Im at the point where I can watch the previous seasons on DVD and be perfectly happy. The show is hardly funny as of late. It would be better off coming to an end, and maybe they could do Halloween and Christmas specials every now and then. But the show certainly should call it an end very soon.
