I'm not sure if there is a thread on this. I looked but couldn't find one.

Teaser is out!

Being a huge Dylan fan I'll see it, but I hate the fact that the director copied real life footage of Dylan in some scenes.

Todd Haynes is an excellent director. Kind of a cool concept, should be really good if he can pull it off. Having multiple actors play the same character (especially Dylan) could end up being an excersise in ego-stroking.

Agreed 100 percent about Bale, but I do have some interest in this because I'm a Dylan fan. Sounds like an interesting concept, at the very least. I'll check it out.

i don't know if anybody is going to be able to top darth vader's mindblowing, should-have-been-oscar-winning performance as dylan in factory girl though.

it amuses me that cate blanchett is probably going to be the one to look most like dylan. odds on she will give the best performance too, she's a star.

Don't discount Christian Bale so fast.

Oh boy. That looks troublesome.

And I find it funny how there's a discussion about this film in 3 different forums. Has RM ever seen a cross-forum merge?

i love cate blanchet, but she looked GOD AWFUL in that clip. there are risks, and then there are RISKS and shes certainly taking one with that role, but i really hope she can pull it off. and am i alone in that she looks way more like OK computer thom yorke with a curly wig on than bobby D in that scene?

That's what I meant by troublesome. She is possibly the best actor/has the most range of anyone in the cast, and I cringed a few times watching that clip. And for the record, I really want to like this movie because of the cast and its subject matter. But that clip...yeeeeesh.

for sure. and i don't mean to be a stickler for detail, but didn't that interview take place before the curly haired/always looking half way out of it dylan era? i was watching don't look back a few weeks ago and remember him still having the times they are a changin/another side short hair look. plus it wasn't in a car. maybe im being the annoying guy who cant look past stuff in movies.

im a sucker for anything bob related so i will be there opening weekend for this.

My problem was with the way the dialogue was delivered. It just sounded like a bad impersonation. But until I see the clip in context of the whole movie, I won't let it bother me. I'm quite curious as to Bale's role in this; Dylan wa a skinny little runt, and never near as muscle-bound as Bale. And given Bale's physique since Batman Begins, I can't imagine his role being based on Dylan in real life.
