Genius or Travesty?

I go back and forth often.

I vote "very yay"

Whoever hired Lion to sing the theme song...genius. Yes, they could have gone with a new wave electronic band to match the TV theme (was the show out before the movie) but they went pure 80s rock...and it's classic, it's thunderous and it's awesome.

A while back I saw a Weird Al show and a fan I met outside told me how badly he wanted this album because of "Dare to be Stupid." I had the "Dare to Be Stupid Album"...great Al non-parody.

"The Touch" is also a classic and I believe is the song Dirk Diggler sings in Boogie Nights...is that right?

The rest is upbeat, positive 80s rock...and symphonic movie interludes...i think

10 out of 10

It;s my favorite movie of all time by the way.

:( Even when they brought Optimus back later on, it was never the same.

Pure corny 80s rock.

I have a cassette I dubbed a couple years back, but I never have bought the soundtrack.

After seeing this flick in 1986, I wanted the Ultra Magnus toy badly. Joke was on me that he was one huge barely-moving thing. But at least he could carry the Autobot cars on his trailer. [/toyetic anecdote]

I decided it belonged in A&E instread of OB. More to do with a movie than a band.

The only thing the Magnus toy was great for was the white Optimus, which could be used for when he was coated to protect him from spores. Duyuh!

I own the movie and the soundtrack. Both get a lot of flack, but I dig 'em. Besides, they fucking killed of Optimus Prime! Who does that? Nobody does that.

I'm going to watch this flick tonight.

That white Optimus was neat to have, since I didn't have the real Optimus.
Like every other kid who owned Prime or Magnus, I lost the fists within a week.

I never lost the Optimus' fists, but I remember breaking his gun.

I had a lot of Transformer breakage. Buzzsaw (tape that came with Soundwave) fell apart because I transformed it so many times. The legs fell off and the head popped out.

The things weren't made for five-year-olds, that much became obvious.
