I'm not a big fan of remakes, especially given that this is one of my all-time favorite westerns, but this could potentially be really good. Russell Crowe (reprising Glenn Ford's role in the original) and Christian Bale are two of my favorite actors, and James Mangold (Copland, Walk the Line) is a good director. I can't wait to see what kind of chemistry Crowe and Bale have on-screen.

They filmed a lot of this here and that Chinese New Zealander i mentioned in another thread is an extra in it.

i know that this is just another remake but it looks like it has potential. it's been a long time since i've seen the original though.

It's cool. There can never be enough Russell Crowe related threads, IMO.

They're pushing the TV spot pretty hard from what I've seen, and it's already got some really good reviews (one says it's the best western since Unforgiven   ). I'm definitely gonna see this one when it comes out next weekend. Anyone else excited for this bad boy?

Very excited for this one! There are no classes here from Wednesday the 12th til the next Monday, so I'm hoping to catch both this and Shoot 'Em Up sometime that week. Both look really cool, though this one definitely has the edge since Christian Bale is in it.

This and Shoot 'Em Up are released the same night, right? That could be one kick-ass doubleheader.

Ah, if only.

This will be a seriously tough decision for my movie going next weekend though, they both look promising.

If I have to choose between the two, I'll probably go with Shoot 'Em Up. I don't really wanna have to pick though.

Come on guys, you gotta choose 3:10. Crowe and Bale in the same fucking movie? That's the stuff dreams are made of for movie geeks such as ourselves. I'd say the top 3 actors working today are Edward Norton, Christian Bale and Russell Crowe. With 2/3 of that trifecta knocking down your door, it's almost mandatory you see 3:10 during its opening weekend.

It's almost too good to be true, though. I keep thinking, man, if this thing sucks it'll be a monumental disappointment. Plus, I'm pretty jaded when it comes to westerns.

Way to read my mind on my favorite actors, by the way.

I want to see this just because I loved the original, and I want to compare both.

I've heard good things about this film so it's promising.

Alright, double disclaimer for Frank, I'm not much of a western fan and not much of a Crowe fan either. I'm hoping this is the movie that changes that, and I fucking love Bale, but we'll see.

How come you don't like Crowe, Merc? Does something about him rub you the wrong way or do you think he's a lousy actor (I can't imagine this being the case, though)?

Yeah, something about him rubs me the wrong way and to be honest I can't even fully put my finger on it. I do like him in LA Confidential though and if this movie is solid I don't think he'll hinder my enjoyment of it. I'm sure I'll see it.
