Have to say, started watching for Miss Hannigan, :li: , stayed because it's funnier than I originally would have thought. I'm not a fan of American sitcoms normally (2.5 Men makes me want to kill people), but I really like this show.

I can't stand most sitcoms, american or otherwise but this one really stands out from the shitheap as far as i'm concerned.

I caught a handful of episodes of this show during a marathon on some cable network a few months ago and finally got around to downloading the first season last week. I've seen all of the first season now and I fucking love it. The only complaint i have is the whole Ted/Robin romance thing. I absolutely hate romantic tension as a recurring plot device in a comedy show. It's what completely turned me off the Office and actually causes me to fast forward when a Ted/Robin heavy episode comes on.

The hilarity of Barney is definitely what drew me in, but Lily and Marshall make this series.

I can't wait for the second season to finish downloading now. I think the few episodes i originally saw were from the 2nd season and they were great :D

to stay general, no real spoiler in the following seasons:
Spoiler: show
thankfully much less/none of the Robin/Ted, but also much less funny Barney, and in the last season very little of Lily/Marshall stuff

I think this is near to jumping the shark

Re your spoiler: Well, you know, when the actress is about to pop there isn't a whole lot you can do with her. Just saying.

I didn't know she was about to pop... and they could have just included that in the storyline..pretty sure they've done that with Friends a couple of times...it's not like it would be out of teh blue for that character.

I've always liked this show when I caught it in passing and I got season one for Christmas so I finally made a concentrated effort to get caught up. The first five episodes are kind of unbearable--Ted basically sucks and it's uncomfortable how much he sucks, but pretty much from the Pineapple Incident on I was hooked. I watched six straight episodes Monday, finished the season today, and promptly ordered seasons two and three on Amazon. I'm hooked.

The thing that sucks is because I saw 10-15 episodes from season three on, I already know the Stella arc is coming and that
Spoiler: show
therefore the Robin/Ted and the Lily and not Marshall that ended the first season are not permanent, but it still was a great season finale.

Basically I can't wait for season two to get here because I fucking need to watch this show. Also, both Robin and Lilly are super hot.

If you liked the first season you'll love the second. Some of the best stuff is there.

I've been watching it On Demand (makes me feel less manly because it's on Lifetime On Demand), but I've enjoyed it. it just sucks that it only has four eps to choose from and each week they add just two to the count, and keep up two of the previous ones. I could watch like six or seven in a row.

I'm excited. DVDs should be in within a week; I can't say I won't watch the entire first disc when I get them.

I still watch this show, but they're starting to rehash Friends' plotlines.

They just renewed for a sixth season; what are the odds it's their last?

you know, it might be time to wrap it up and go out on a high note. I always thought a tv show should last about 6 years. then they just start running out of interesting story lines.

I could see season 6 of mother wrapping it all up. that would be great

agreed, they need to stop stringing it out.

if i was writing the show, for the series finale the last line bob saget would say is "and that's how i met your mother" as ted finally meets the lady.

what I DONT want them to do is introduce the mother, and then have 2-3 lackluster seasons of ted dating her or something

So are we anywhere close to revealing how a grown man's voice becomes bob sagets?

I literally watched 13 episodes since last at midnight. Three away from the end of season two.

Literally finished season two in four days. Taking a break before season three. Also I need to do homework at some point.
