Freedom of Expression is Western Terrorism says:
nope not that either
stu says:
top gun?
Freedom of Expression is Western Terrorism says:
i like this tune
Freedom of Expression is Western Terrorism says:
it was pretty gay i thought
stu says:
lol
Freedom of Expression is Western Terrorism says:
ok movie but gayyyy

Does Top Gun's blatant homoerotic corniness make it a bad film? I love it just for these qualities, plus the excellent aerial photography and soundtrack. It's sort of a guilty pleasure.

But should I be guilty for liking Top Gun? I don't think so and I know Cal will agree with me here. Who else is with me? Who knows all the words to Dangerzone, can play Eddie Van Halen's Top Gun Anthem on guitar? What choked you up more, when Goose died or when Maverick throws his dog tags into the Indian Ocean after saving the Western world? Kelly McGillis or Meg Ryan?

EDIT: Why did I have this movie confused with Lethal Weapon in my mind? Anyway, yeah, still not as gay as Commando.

Top Gun is a buddy cop/action movie. It combines two potentially homoerotic genres into one very homoerotic movie. It's nowhere near Commando levels of gayness, though.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Did you notice Arnie's arsenal just seemed to pop up with him whenever he needed it?

Watched it when I was a kid so the subtle homo-theme was lost on my young innocent naiive mind.

I'd prefer to leave it at that.

Maverick's performance of "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" in the bar is potentially one of the gayest scenes in the history of film.

I loved it when I was a kid.

Speaking of "ghey" Tom Cruise films, you can't get more cheesier than Cocktail. That film is nowt but a steaming turd.

That scene irritated the hell out of me, not to mention it's obvious he's not playing the piano. :x

i hate Top Gun. I've always hated Top Gun. While I liked Val Kilmer as Ice Man, I just hate Tom Cruise and I do believe this movie's homoerotic qualities clearly indicate that Tom Cruise is in fact gay and should stop pretending to be a pretty boy... case in point, "You can be my wingman, anytime!" he's not fooling anyone. The only good line in the whole movie is.... "Yee-haw! Jester's Dead!"

blasphemy. it is worth watching if only for the chance to see a young, smoking hot elizabeth shue.

on subject, top gun rules. if you aren't comfortable enough with your own sexual orientation to watch a movie featuring guys in situations that can be misconstrued as "gay" then i don't know what to say. it was the 80's, guys wore short shorts. maverick bangs charlie, goose is married to meg ryan; i don't know what's gay about that.
