The problem is with those mega detailed graphics...all those millions of polygons, layers and more layers of textures demand a lot of time. I dont think the next gen of video games will be much more powerful, cause the people who make the games wont have the patience and budget to add an almost infinity level of graphic detail.

with the more people make games, the better they get at making them and the methods are innovated upon and the process becomes easier with time

Yeah but you can say the same thing about the transition from any generation to another. Going from the nes to snes meant adding more detail. SNES to N64... so on.
