This really isn't news. I knew, the first time I saw him strap on a guitar that SNL had pegged him as a kind of Sandler replacement -- a poor one to be certain -- right down to the stupid giggling between verses of the songs he was performing.
Further, how many sketches did he tank simply because he couldn't keep a straight face? I mean, when it happens once in a while, it's amusing, but every other week?
His first appearance as an anchor of Weekend Update marked the sharp decline of that part of the show. Whatever happened to the straight-faced delivery from the anchors? Even Norm MacDonald, who would occasionally smirk, delivered the most outrageous of lines (usually involving some spin on "crack whore") with admirable seriousness.

i thought there'd be a thread about him but i couldn't find one.
what's shocking is that he gets movies and he's been on snl awhile. and plenty of other spots.
i just don't get it, really.

he probably broke character in 85% of the episodes of SNL he was in.
That's the only thing I'd put in the PRO column on him. The only times I've laughed at SNL in the past 5-7 years are when he and Horatio Sanz bust up laughing.
