Author Stephen King is teaming with Hostel director Eli Roth to bring his best-selling book Cell to the big screen. Roth recently read the thriller, which sees a mysterious pulse sent through cellular phones turn humans into crazed zombies, and immediately began plans for a movie. Roth says, "I couldn't put it down. It was such a balls-out horror movie with a smart take on the zombie genre." The director is keen to write the screenplay for the film, possibly alongside King, and will start on the project as soon as he finishes directing Hostel 2.

Eli's the man, he'll bring the horror goods home I think.

When i first saw this, I thought Pffft.
But the more i think about it, the more i think it might work. The Cell was a great take on the zombie genre. We could use a fresh zombie movie and this book is it.
95% of SK novels turned into movies suck. I love SK and i love cheesy horror movies. But most of them are just unwatchable.
I hope this one turns out as good as it's potential.

Good book, but not great. There's been too many zombie movies out for this, and the plot followed too closely to Land of the Dead for comfort on the big screen.

The book was ok. There were some parts that just dragged too much. But any new spin on the zombie movie genre is a-ok with me, and I think this could be a good movie. There are some gory scenes from the book that will look fucking great on the big screen.
