Someone told me that they picked up catcher in the rye and thought of me if Holden was in 90s. I never read the book, btw. |

I think of it as a complement, he's quite a dynamic character. |

He's whiny, he's vulgar, he over-analyzes things, he's pretentious, and he's insane. But he's lovable and the thing about Catcher is that everyone seems to relate at some point or another. I always considered myself a Holden Caulfield of sorts. Then I realized everyone else did, too. |

I was compared to Will from Good Will Hunting. I never got around to asking if it meant i was a genius that didnt appreciate my abillities, or if i was so affraid of commitment that i would break off a relationship before things even got started. I'm still scratching my head on that one. |

I found the Holden character relateable. One of my favorite books. |

Isn't it the movie Singles where one of the female leads finds Holden-like qualities attractive in a guy? I think that would make it a compliment. |

I really think this is one of the most overrated books in the canon. I saw no real point to it and I did not relate to him at all. Aside from that, I'd be seriously insulted if someone said that I reminded them of Holden Caufield. Like Scott said, he's whiny, vulgar, and pretentious. I'd also like to add that he's immature and a fucking prick with absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever. |

That's because he was played by Powers Booth in the original novel. |

And then they made me go to this special school where the walls were soft, the tables had no sharp edges, and the crayons were oh so edible! |
