I also saw these:

Was basically really bad, but kind of in a good way. They kind of go overboard in their style of satire, its nearly as idiotic as the type of films they are parodying and isn't terribly insightful but I have to give it to them for trying to make "statements" or be unique.

Was fairly boring and heavy handed, but wasn't a total loss because Rachel Weisz is a total babe.

In Hollywood terms of imitating a classic epic style, it succeeds perfectly. Yeah, I would say its a nearly perfect film.

Lets not forget that half the members of the board are into Japanophillia mayhem/slasher flicks.

The English Patient could have been a really good movie if about half of it was cut.

It's beautifully shot, and the story is somewhat intriguing, but I hated just about every character, especially the Ralph Fiennes character.

Motherfucker sold out to the Nazis to save a dead body. Fuck that.

You're just saying that cause you're Jewish. In that regards its a great love story and besides, the whole thing is based off a book so if there's a problem with the narrative, blame it on the book. Sometimes sides in war aren't as clear as they seem.

Also the director made/wrote Cold Mountain, which I need to see now.

Likewise. My favorite of Wong Kar Wai's films, and those are some classy films to be up against! When I first saw it, the way the camerawork contributed to the plot blew my mind - this is why Chris Doyle is the greatest cinematographer ever. :worthy:

Fucking incredible movie. I'm glad you got to see it, Matt.
