Apparently there's not a thread for this film. Its pretty good, better than what I expected but too long. Also, why do war modern war movies have to have really basic morality issues? Like we haven't seen this stuff a million times before. Also, I'm not too keen on films that glorify heroism via killing people but this movie kept it to a minimum. I didn't know the marines were so homoerotic either.

Solid pic

I could have sworn I was in AE section

On a related note, the news/interview segment in this movie was really good

If I were the A&E mod, this would've been merged 85 seconds ago.

i didn't like it at all. Granted there are a few good scenes, but there was never any point to the movie besides boredom. i have to say, i was vastly disappointed.

Yeah, I was told this movie sucked major balls and was warned to not waste my time with it. I will probably wait until it comes on HBO or something to watch and then judge for myself.

I thought it was just all right. Nice premise and all, but overall I wasn't impressed.

I liked the scene with Something in the Way. Otherwise an OK movie, but nothing too spectacular.

Peter Sarsgaard was excellent in this movie, his acting made this movie for me. I dig the oil fire scenes alot, haunting images. The climax in the tower is pretty cool, I really wanted him to get his one shot in.

One of my favorite Tom Waits songs is in this movie, too.

I kind of thought that was the point of the movie. The whole war was anticlimactic.

This movie was just awful, and nothing like any stories I heard from Gulf War vets.

It is accurate in Marine down time activities though...

i really liked this movie. i thought it was different take on war movies and a side that you hardly ever see in the movies. it was funny and fucked up at the same time. good film.

i just read the book and enjoyed it, but i don't really see how you could make a movie out of it.

I go back in forth on this one. I just this last Friday and I can't decide if it was really good or just ho-hum. It was a different take on a war movie and I enjoyed that, but sometimes it was just flat. I would probably give it a B.

As I said earlier I still haven't seen it but from what friends have said, it's just too realistic. There are realistic war movies that are insteresting like Black Hawk Down and SPR and then there are some that are too realistic and boring.

The "Kenny G" scene is hilarious.
