I was reading the Romero thread and it made me remember this flick where the wrestler dude put on these sunglasses and he could see that half of the city where he was living were actually aliens in disguise and were controlling everything even our minds. The backing music sounds like that Mad Season tune Artificial Red. I love this one what does everyone else think?

What? It's called They Live.

It's an okay movie. It has its moments, but overall it's a little on the weak side. Carpenter has many better films.

It's a really bizarre, interesting film. Carpenter made a satire of 80's Reaganism and wrapped it in a satire of an 80's action film. In doing so, he mixed his most (purposefully) corny dialogue with some of the best cinematography in any of his movies. The famous overlong fight scene and the awkward homoeroticism don't seem to fit with the fairly clever and scathing shots at yuppie culture, but I think it's the weird coexistance of these parts that makes the movie unique. This and Prince of Darkness are really overlooked when people talk about Carpenter's great films.

I love this one, and Prince of Darkness as well. The scenes were he can see all the hidden messages of "Obey", "Marry and Reproduce", etc are just great.

One of the best South Park moments ever was when they recreated the entire fight scene from They Live in the cripple fight episode. That was fantastic.

this movie might have been better if the lead character could actually....act. I loved Roddy as a wrestler, but he was pretty lame as an action movie hero/star.

That's part of what I like about the movie, all that horrible acting. It is by far the best come home at 4 a.m. drunk as hell but still not tired enough to sleep movie.
