... is apparently going to be Daniel Craig, the guy I was hoping for. Go watch Layer Cake and you'll see this guy will make a great, if somewhat darker and grittier, Bond.

Interesting choice. I thought they may have went for a younger and more 'popular' actor. However having a not so well known figure (not by me anyway) can often make the part more successful. Looking forward to new Bond movies, which I generally love.
I think he's a good choice. Of course, every Bond movie for the past 20 years has sucked horribly, so I don't know how much of a difference this will make.

It's been mentioned that they intend to make a more realistic Bond movie. More Spy Thriller than Over The Top Action Flic. A younger Bond and no more gadgets. Although I will dearly miss John Cleese as Q, I'd love to see a different approach to the Bond franchise than the last few films.

aren't the bourne movies kind of what they're shooting for now? this guy might be a good choice, though i know nothing about him. i guess there is an image of what bond should look like, but i think someone like jason statham (snatch, the transporter) would make a cool ass bond.

for what it's worth, he was a great bad guy in Road to Perdition
He was great in Road to Perdition and that, indeed, is worth a lot. I read quite a few Bond novels when I was a teenager and the Bond I remember from the books is a more chilly, efficient and way more nasty spy than the kind he is portrayed as in (especially) the later movies.

You 18 year old girls and your silly fantasies...
dark hair gives a more misterious, charming, cool joe look that fits perfectly on Bond...Connery and Brosnan were the best Bonds, both dark haired

I have only seen him in Road to Perdition, and Enduring Love, and he was awesome in both. Definetly not my first choice, but he is a great actor. But shit, he is almost 40 already, and he looks like he could be 50. Not exactly the sex magnet you expect out of a Bond.
