I think the original movie is kind of shitty, so I don't see how that's any different. I've just always been indifferent to that whole series.

:o

I love the original. It has some of the most dizzying death scenes this side of Suspiria!

It's been ages since I've seen any of the originals and the last time I watched even part of one was on tv. I should probably check it out again. I know time was not kind to the Amityville Horror, and that's another one I was never crazy about.

Yeah, but that's because that movie sucks.

You should definitely watch The Omen again. Best. Decapitation. Ever. And if it weren't for that gorgeous opening scene of Suspiria, I would also give it the best hanging ever. And that tricycle scene makes me dizzy every time.

I do not mind remakes in the horror genre as long as they are done well. If they shit on a classic though, Psycho for example, then it pisses me off. But we have had some decent horror remakes. Dawn of the Dead and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre were good remakes that did enough things different to warrant their existance. The Ring was a very good movie that was a remake of a very shitty movie. The original Omen isn't that great of a movie to begin with, but it is entertaining. I really could not careless about the remake because from the previews it looks nearly identical.

By the way, does anyone else think Mia Farrow was some incredibly interesting casting? She gave birth to the spawn of Satan in Rosemary's Baby, and now she's the nanny of the Antichrist. :search:

Haha - I don't really care for it. :P It's my least favorite Polanski.

I'm in the extreme minority, but I think The Ninth Gate is a much more interesting Polanski work on the subject.

I liked the Ninth Gate. It's flawed, but good and Depp more than makes up for it's weaknesses.

Yeah, it's definitely flawed.

-The obvious CG shots.
-The weird, fizzled ending.
-"BOO!"
-...Did she just fucking fly?

But I still think the plot is absolutely fascinating and I think it's got a damn good atmosphere. And that opening hanging is one of my all time favorite Polanski moments. It's brilliantly done.

The ending is what messed it up for me the most. I'll forgive it, only because I was pretty intrigued during the rest of the running time. But yeah, wtf?

Oh man, I loved Rosemary's Baby. For an old school movie to actually creep me out is pretty rare. Usually they come off a little cheesy.

"Hey, Kramer, listen, you've seen the Omen right? What exactly was that kid?"

"Who, Damien? Nothing, just a mischievous, rambunctious kid."

He doesn't look anywhere near as creepy as the original Damien.

Be fair. If they left in the extended scenes in TCM it would have been a better movie. When Leatherface goes at the guy on the meathooks, it's pretty good. If I could figure out how, I'd like to splice those scenes back in. I can't understand how a movie that was only really made for shock value could cut out some of the most shocking scenes.
Dawn still sucks though.
