I really like this movie. It's supremely fucked up though, and I can understand how it's not for everyone. I especially love the part when Jessica Biel's character is about to be gang-banged by the footbal team and you hear all those dudes going: "white girl, white girl". Hilarious.

The girl from Smallville's titties are showing when she 's in the bathtub.
that's weird considering that no one from smallville is in this movie

This movie is fantastic. I love the sequence with the split screen between Sean Bateman and Shannyn Sossamon's character and Donovan's Colours playing in the background.

The book is penomenal in that it really gives you a sense of how empty and meaningless the 80's were for some people. The movie is garbage. But seriously, read the book.

if you dig cross-over plots or whatnot, sean bateman in this movie/book is the brother of patrick bateman of american psycho fame.
I definitely dig that, and I hope that the book is better than American Psycho was. In a rare case, I loved the movie and would never read the book again.

oh man, i loved american psycho, but i could see where someone wouldn't like it. he lays on the characterization of patrick as a vapid, materialistic american pretty thick.
ROA is written from 4 major points of view (the 4 main characters), though some other minor characters (like victor) take over at certain points. great read.

The only thing that got me about American Psycho was the five pages of descriptions of what everyone was wearing and eating during any given scene. I mean, I got the point that yes, this guy was that obsessed with image and materials but there had to be a better way to portray that. A good read but I wouldn't go back through it again. I thought the movie portrayed that same hollowness in the Bateman character but actually made it into something I could watch again.
The violence in the book was a lot more extreme though, that part where he skull fucks one of the girls is something I will never forget.

the book was pretty good. this movie was decent. I didn't love it...and I didn't hate it. Vanderbeek was actually ok IMO.
