Has anyone played this game? It's pretty bad ass!! I'm on the last boss right now. It's a pretty kick ass adventure title. Lots of blood and a decent story. Plus there's boobies. Hooray for them.

I plan to pick it up next month when I get the new paycheck. I just bought Doom 3 for XBOX, which is bad ass, and a PSP with a couple of games so I'm broke. I hear God of War kicks ass.

I was going to eventually make this topic had someone else not. This is a great game, and one of the PS2's crowning achievements technically. God of War just flows together so well, there's few games I've played with better pacing. The story and immesion is top notch. The battle and combo system is simple, yet incredibly fun. Pretty good puzzles and platforming add to the experience, giving it something a little different from your other action games like Devil May Cry. All the aspects that go into making a stand out game are present, with the only major flaw being it's length. I beat it in 9 1/2 hours, and most other people I've been talking to have reported similar times.

how is doom 3 for the xbox??
and has anyone played shadow of rome for ps2?
Off topic but Doom 3 for the box is pretty awesome. I really like the single player and the special edition has the old ultimate doom and doom 2 on it. However, I would warn anyone buying it about the fact that the multiplayer definitely leaves something to be desired, and there is no split screen deathmatch or co-op, only system link and xbox live. Boo to that. Other than that, it's a good game.

I've been playing this game for the last two days, and it's one of the best ever in my book. The action is brutal and technique based, the puzzles are clever without being ridiculously hard, and it's incredibly cinematic. Just the size and depth of all the environments is incredible. If you haven't played it, you really should.

i agree nate, though its not the best song off of hysteria
Feelin' like it's all over, feelin' like there's no love
Feelin' like it's not easy, breathin' life in the dust
On a countdown to zero take a ride on the nightmare machine
There ain't gonna be heroes
There ain't gonna be anything
Oh
Here it comes, here comes the night
Here it comes, hell in the night
Here it comes, here comes the night
When we all fall down
When we walk into silence
When we shadow the sun
When we surrender to violence
Oh
Then the damage is done
Put away that gun!
I don't wanna be there
I don't wanna be anywhere
Oh!
Here it comes, here comes the night
Here it comes, hell in the night
Here it comes, here comes the night
That's right!
We're fightin' for the gods of war but what the hell we fightin' for?
We're fightin' with the gods of war but I'm a rebel
And I ain't gonna fight no more no way!
On a countdown to zero
Take a ride on the nightmare machine
There ain't gonna be heroes
(Whoa)
There ain't gonna be anything
No!
Here it comes, here comes the night
Here it comes, hell in the night
Here it comes, here comes the night
Don't ya know that's right!
We're fightin' for the gods of war but what the hell we fightin' for?
We're fightin' with the gods of war
And (a) I ain't gonna fight no more
(Stop)
Stop fightin' for the gods of war
(Stop fightin' for the gods of war)
Yeah what the hell we fightin' for?
(What in the hell we fightin' for?)
We're fightin' with the gods of war
Heavy!

It's a quick game for sure, but it's so fucking fun and cinematic. You should give it a try.

God of War is, hands down, one of the greatest games ever conceived by man.
Yes, you could probably beat it in a week. But here's the awesome thing... replay value is huge. The new difficulty levels really are a challenge, and the new costumes really are cool.
Challenge of the Gods adds some time as well.
So yes, if all you want to do is play it through once it may be a bit short. But I guarantee that those 10-12 hours of gameplay will be some of the most action packed, funnest hours you could spend on a playstation.
If you haven't tried it, pick it up. At least rent it.

And yes, the M rating on it is well deserved.
I concur. If you play the game on "hard" difficulty, it will kick your ass all over the place. Be prepared. It's a fairly short game, but you don't feel shafted at the end, and it doesn't drag on for the sake of dragging on like a lot of games. Do yourself a favor and play it.

How in god's name do you pass the challenge of Hades with the centaurs? I must've killed 200 of those bastards on the altar and the damn door only opened halfway. It's so hard.
Also, that underwater booby trap is one of the coolest sequences I've ever witnessed. I died so much just because I wanted to watch the spikes and blades close in.

God of War is the best game I've ever played. If you play it on hard, you can expect a good 25 hours playing (it'd be around 9-12 if you didn't die once). I didn't feel ripped off when it ended at all. Visually--awesome. Gameplay--awesome. Story--awesome.
Now, to the question above by Orpheus Descending:
SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!
You have to kill the centaurs within the blue circles on the floor. I forget how many of them per circle (I think 3). Definately not easy.

You actually have to kill 4 per circle. Every one you kill inside the circle will light up a little flame on the perimeter. Once you kill 4, move to the next circle.
