Post subject: Classic Comedy from the 40's and 50's

my local store has all these comedy shows from the 40's and 50's on DVD
for $1.99.I got a bunch of them (Burns and Allen,The Three Stooges,Jack Benny and Abbott &Costello) and nearly wet my pants laughing so hard!
comedy was funny then.Lots of funny looking people doing slapstick instead of sitting in the house making lame jokes.

Oh, Abbott and Costello were madman-geniuses of comedy! I wanted to buy their latest DVD release when it came out, but I never found it. That's still on my wish list. That whole "Who's on first?" sketch nearly made me die laughing the first time I heard it, and I only laughed harder the times I heard/watched it after that. Everything they did was great; they were so random and nutty!
The Three Stooges were great too. Great, great, physical comedy.
This thread makes me want to break out an old tape and let myself laugh until I go mad!

Yes!
But you'd have to go back a bit farther in time to find my favorite stuff. Try some older Laurel and Hardy, or, better still, some silent Charlie Chaplin or Buster Keaton films.

Ahhh, yes, agreed! The silent films were great fun, even when humor wasn't really the intention. Georges Melies' "A Trip to the Moon" is one of the greatest things I've ever seen. Watching all of those professors go nuts about their trip, and how fast everything happened was so funny! And the Chaplin films are popular with great reason. Good choices!

yeah,Im gonna get Laurel and Hardy and Buster Keaton next.And WC Fields (though I'm not sure about his comedy).
