I've always wanted to attend one of these horror conventions to see what it's all about. I've considered going to Cinema Wasteland in Strongsville, OH a few times now but have never made it. I'd love to check it out since they're having some of the cast of the Devil's Rejects there, along with a bunch of other genre folks, but it's March 31, April 1 and 2 and the weather can be pretty nasty at that time of year. Anyone ever gone to one of these or have any experience with them?

Avoid Star Trek conventions at all costs. Anything else I'll go to, but there's just something strange in the air about ST cons. And it's not the mass of unshowered people there.
I went to Botcon once (Transformers con) and saw all sorts of neat stuff. A lot of people in crappy Optimus Prime costumes (though they still got compliments for trying and actually wearing the thing in public), overpriced toys ($400 for a mint-in-box G1 Starscream- whoa), and seeing what Hasbro and Takara have in store for the next year.

How much could I get for a used Metroplex and Ultra Magnus?

It depends on if they're complete and how tight the joints are, and if they're any yellowing of Metroplex's plastic.
Metroplex should go for around $50-70 since he hasn't been reissued. He might go for more if he's totally complete. There's an auction on ebayright now for a totally complete one wthat also includes the box, styrofoam, and instructions for about $150. One with any condition box will go for considerably more. You could try and piece it out for $5 a piece, but I'd only do that if he's missing a lot of pieces.
Magnus has been reissued in both the USA and Japan (he came in several different colors in Japan too), so he usually hits about $30-50. If he has his box and styrofoam with him, he'll go higher. I'd hold off till next year to sell them if you can, what with Michael Bay's Transformers flick coming out on July 4th, 2007. I'll gamble Transformers fandom will be much higher than usual, and you might fetch a higher price.
They weren't the most popular TFs, but I think interest in Metroplex might get a little higher since Hasbro doesn't do reissues anymore, and Takara has moved on to post-1985 TFs. Their most recent releases have been Perceptor, Blaster, Kup/Wheelie, and Galvatron. There's still a chance they could do a bigger TF like Metroplex, but I think Takara got bit hard on the last huge reissue they did, Predaking. Plus there's that bitch of finding the mold and seeing if it can be used again. I'm not sure how popular Plex was in Japan. Takara hasn't reissued the Dinobots since they weren't very popular there, but fans here are nuts for them. Hasbro won't take the initiative to reissue them because they never owned the molds for them. Early TFs were taken from different lines of decade old toys (decade old in the early 80s, anyway) and Hasbro just leased them to create the first two series.
OK, gotta shut up now before I take this thread way too off topic. If you have more questions, you can PM me, or check out seibertron.com or tformers.com if you're looking to OD on nostalgic toys.

I wish I would have gone last fall when Ken Foree, Sid Haig and Bill Moseley were there. I know some people are even more excited about the victims being there because apparently they don't do the convention circuit. Camille Keaton should be an interesting Q&A for this one, and they've got quite a few Friday the 13th folks who are going to be there. It's a tough call, especially since I don't know what my spring/summer touring schedule is going to look like yet.

You really can't imagine my envy right now. Seriously. Does he go to PittConn? I know the Dawn cast make appearances there every year since it happens right next to the Monroeville Mall. I'll never forgive myself for missing the 25th anniversary show there a few years ago.

Incorrect. It's Tom. And yes, he did play Sex Machine. He's also the single greatest make-up artist to ever live.

Yeah, I can go on and on about trivial Transformers knowledge even when no one wants to hear it.
