I was kind of wary when I heard it was going to be an "animated" film, but after seeing the trailer, I think it looks fantastic. Can't wait to see it.

Philip K. Dick is a mind-blowingly good writer.... I hope this will be good but it has gotten mixed screening reviews over on aint-it-cool-except-for-the-morons-in-the-talkbacks-news

this looks really cool. the plot looks like it's going to be very interesting but the one thing that stands out is obviously the animation in it. very state of the art stuff.

The same people who did the animation also did Waking Life, I presume

That's also a pretty good film

Linklater is the bomb.

IMO "Waking life" broke new ground for cinema, both in appearence and in context. It's one of my favorite dvds...
My expectations are fairly high for this one... I was weary about Reeves in it... But then again if he's playing the same "where am I, who am I, why am I here" character wich seems to be custom made for him, there should be no problem.

And radiohead scoring the thing!!!

From pitchfork,
Although the band won't be responsible for the flick's entire score, Warner Independent Pictures told EW that A Scanner Darkly will "feature music by Radiohead, including a brand-new track from lead singer Thom Yorke's upcoming solo release." We're eager to watch Keanu Reev-- wait, WHAT? A Thom Yorke solo album?!?! Since when did he go all Beyonce on us? Or rather, since when did he go all Jonny Greenwood?

So why all of the excitement about this one? I've started to see a lot about it but no one has really said anything about why it's getting such hype.

The source material; no one's ever really done justice to Dick's work; it's all pseudo-animation.
