they will probably play up the reformed alky aspect, probably a shot of a martin glass in the forefront in focus with him in his armor sans the helmet, and then focus shifts back to him as he he puts the helmet on and the martini glass fades out of focus

hes not a manwhore that i have seen, but the only comics i have bought in recent years was the tradepaperbacks of avengers dissassembled, the first two volumes of the new avengers. i am sorta looking forward to the civil war paperback, it seems really good, but not enough for me to go to the comic book shop to pick them up for $4 an issue, ill read it all at once

It would be an awesome angle if they do it right. Don't take away too much screen time for the action and all, but make it obvious that he has a problem, and show other people maybe talking to him about it. Not many superheroes have to deal with alcoholism. Makes it easier to relate to the character, even if you're not an alchoholic yourself. But if they focus to much on the man, and not enough Iron Man blowing shit up, it will surely suck a lot.

I actually don't really agree with that. I think Tony Stark is the kind of guy you want to cast with a big star, like a Tom Cruise. I think that would work better for the character.

I don't think it's absolutely necessary to have a "name" actor in there. Hugh Jackman was a complete unknown, as was Christopher Reeve. To me, the actor shouldn't outweigh the poperty, else it just becomes another star vehicle. I can see it the other way, however, since Iron Man isn't an A-list Marvel property, maybe a popular actor needs to be cast for box-office.

I don't know. Maybe I'm idealistic about these things, and if the movie is done right, with the right person for the part, and the filmmakers understand the nature of what they're creating, then the movie will speak for itself and be a success. Perfect world, though, I guess.
