I don't know how familiar any of you are with Robert Crumb. I only know him through American Splendor and a few of his comics. This one is rather famous:
Most of his comics are actually incredibly perverted and mysonginistic. I saw this documentary on him the other day (the one that David Lynch was involved with) and this guy is a total fuck-up. The film tries to make the point that he is an "artist" which I can buy into, but he's also not so right in the head. I had respect for him half way through the film, but by the end I think he was basically just an asshole. A genius no doubt, but a selfish douchebag. Watch it and be disgusted.
Unfortunately, it's so elementary, and the big time investors behind the drive in the stock market aren't so stupid. This isn't the false economy of 2000.

I love that movie, and it's not about whether you respect him or not.
I'm not sure why everything has to be about whether you hold someone up to be a genius or throw him down as an asshole. The man is what he is, and the film is a raw portrait of who he is. Your judgment of him is irrelevant.
