Not sure of the numerical order, but the movie was based on 3 stories: The Hard Goodbye, The Big Fat Kill, and That Yellow Bastard, with The Customer is Always Right bookending the stories.

The major stories that are left are Family Values, To Hell and Back, and the great A Dame To Kill For, which was actually the 2nd major Sin City story to come out in print. There are a lot of short tales as well.

A Dame to Kill For is definitely going to be used for the next movie, but I really don't think you'll be ruining it too much by reading the books. If anything it gives you more of an appreciation for what they did with them onscreen.

Word. Check them out, Rockfan. If you like movies you'll appreciate Miller's cinematic eye (and ear).

I was just at B&N today checking out the newest prints http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1593963149/sr=8-3/qid=1155075063/ref=pd_bbs_3/002-1910579-1700068?ie=UTF8of these graphic novels. They're a little undersized as compared to the original comic prints from the early '90s, but they're rreally cool. "A Dame to Kill For" was always one of my favs from back in the day, and really look forward to a screen adaptation. There was word awhile back that Brad Pitt's main squeeze A Jolie was going to play "Ava" (The "Dame" who's to kill for), and that would be tre cool. Frank Miller is a comic book god, and you should really check out the graphic novels if possible. "A Hard Goodbye," the first SC arc w/ Marv is a classic of modern comics for sure.
