I didnt see any threads on this guy. Im watching Brother McMullen right now, for some reason Ive never seen it. Give your opinions on his work-acting, directing, or producing. or rank his work.

As an actor, he's okay. Confidence and Ash Wednesday were decent performances but nothing special. His role in Saving Private Ryan was very underwritten, so it's tough to criticize his performance. In the other movies he directed, his performances weren't all that special either.

Direction wise, the only movie of his I like is She's The One. It's funny the way the characters interact with each other, and it has the best acting out of all of his movies. Jennifer Aniston is great in her role, as is the father (I forget his name...he's the same guy who played Frasier's father on the TV series). It's a pretty tight script, and better than The Brothers McMullen because it doesn't take itself too seriously. He's a decent writer, but more apt to comedy than to drama.
