i got into him when i heard Ed shout out "I like to read Bukowski butt-naked" on "I'm Alive, How's That"... decided i had to see what was up... loved him... and this was '93, so when i picked a major in college in '94, i went with English and a large factor was probably Buk... didnt get much more into him after college started... the same cant be said for my fandom of the guy who introduced me
It's not a bad film. I can see how people who are unfamiliar with Bukowski's work will find it a tad boring. It basically has no storyline. This works fine with his novels, but it's a hard thing to adapt into a film. Dillon isn't bad, he has the mannerisms down, but he's just too damn good looking. Doesn't seem too convincing.
My favourite parts are when he reads poetry in voice-over. Adds nicely to the feel of the movie, even though it doesn't always coincide with the subject matter.
