List those films that convey that wonderful atmosphere you could just fall asleep to.
The Fearless Vampire Killers
Onibaba
Ryan's Daughter
The Church
The Grapes of Death
Knife In The Water
Elevator To The Gallows
Suspiria
Howl's Moving Castle
McCabe & Mrs. Miller
Eyes Wide Shut
A Streetcar Named Desire
High Tension
Aliens
The Shining
Port of Shadows
Lost In Translation
Nothing will get me to love a film like a good atmosphere.

The Shining comes to mind instantly. The opening tracking shot over the body of water combined w/ the menacing opening track sets the tone for the entire film.

I think it's strange how often horror films have the most relaxing atmospheres. The Shining, The Grapes of Death, Suspiria, The Church, The Fearless Vampire Killers, Aliens, etc.

Suspiria for sure.
Mulholland Drive
Session 9
Donnie Darko

Fuck yeah. David Lynch in general. What's so great about his films such as Mulholland Drive and Blue Velvet is that you don't remember the plot half as much as you remember how you felt while watching the movie.

The biggest thing I remember about Blue Velvet is constantly laughing at the stupidity.

I agree. All of his movies definitely have a vibe, but with Blue Velvet there was still what I feel was a pretty definite interpretation of the events, whereas by the time we get to Mulholland Drive, the whole movie is wide open to interpretation. What you take into it will determine what you get out of the movie.
