This next installment of the MK series has me very excited. It is being released on the current generation consoles. It is said to wipe the slate clean of the MK storyline so that Midway can start fresh with the series on next-gen consoles. MKA is anticipated for release in October of 2006 for the PS2 & Xbox.

Kreate a Fighter
-6 page system
-Details on facial features and garments
-Assign every attack for your character and name the style yourself

New Fatality System
-Create your own fatality rather than watch one play out
-Players will be able to control the entire fatality and use specific movements

The Vault
-Similar to the krypt, but rather than having to play through Konquest mode, unlockables can be achieved through arcade mode also

New Konquest Mode
-Based on the MK: Shaolin Monks engine
-Said to be almost a separate game in itself

Previous stages reworked
-Many (possibly all) stages from previous MK games have been re-developed in 3D.

New Mini-games
-Midway announced that a "strange" mini game with 8 player compatability will be featured
-Unfortunately, Puzzle and Chess Kombat have been removed :(

New Gameplay elements
-Air combo system that allows throws
-Throw direction commands for use with deathtraps

At least 60 playable characters!!
-Selection screen said to have 60 slots with 16 characters immediately playable
*59 confirmed characters:
-MK1: Goro, Johnny Cage, Kano, Liu Kang, Raiden, Reptile, Scorpion, Shang Tsung, Sonya Blade, Sub-Zero
-MK2: Baraka, Jade, Jax, Kintaro, Kitana, Kung Lao, Mileena, Noob Saibot, Shao Kahn, Smoke
-MK3/UMK3: Cyrax, Ermac, Kabal, Motaro, Nightwolf, Rain, Sektor, Sheeva, Sindel, Stryker
-MK4: Fujin, Jarek, Kai, Quan Chi, Reiko, Shinnok, Tanya
-MK DA: Blaze, Bo Rai Cho, Drahmin, Frost, Hsu Hao, Kenshi, Li Mei, Mavado, Mokap, Moloch, Nitara, Sareena
-MK Dec: Ashrah, Dairou, Darrius, Havik, Hotaru, Kira, Kobra, Onaga, Shujinko
-New character: Taven
-Click Here for a wallpaper with renders of most of the confirmed characters

It would appear that they are really pushing the limits with the 128-bit systems. I hope there aren't too many glitches in the game. With all of these features, and being that they are using the same fighting engine that was used in Deception, it would be difficult for Midway to screw this one up.

looks incredible..ill probably pick it up day 1..dont care what anyone thinks, mk is the king of fighting fames..tekken, virt fighter, street fighter..fun games..but mk owns them all

Another thing I'm glad to hear is that each character will now have 2 fighting styles (one with a weapon, one hand-to-hand) as opposed to 3, which is how it was in Deception.

Generally, switching between 3 fighting styles with a character could be a pain and that fraction of a second it took to switch could get you into trouble. Also, I find myself using only 2 styles for each character anyway. Some I would pretty much stick with 1 (like Baraka's blades :twisted:)

MK2 is the best fighting game ever.

The rest of the MK series just became too complex and combo dependant.

That's actually Blaze, who is the boss in MK4. Taven, unfortunately, isn't in the picture.

it says up top he was in deadly alliance and i have that game..never used him tho..hmm..may have to break that one out and look up how to unlock him

Right...I fucked up. Blaze is in Deadly Alliance. He has also been confirmed as the boss for Armageddon.
