Sorry if this has been discussed, I searched but didn't see anything.

I had my interest piqued by this film about 5 years ago, but just got around to seeing it 2 weeks ago. I loved it so much that I have seen it 3 times since then.

It was released in 1932, so obviously it's black and white. I had heard so much about how creepy it was, but being so old I had absolutely no expectations about it before i watched. I didn't think a film that old could creep me out in any way. Boy was I wrong. The film is a little over an hour long but it has 2 minutes of the creepiest footage I have ever seen. And I think that is because it is old an has no cliches. The stars are real circus freaks and their "freakyness" really hits home. These are people that you won't often see in a film. And honestly, in today's pc world, a film like this would be hard to make.

The freaks of the film are not being exploited, but instead show the power that they have in their own world. But it's that power that is ultimately what creeps out the viewer.

My skills as a film reviewer are obviously awful, but I loved this film and was really surprised by it and am curious to read what other viewers think.[/img]

This is a fantastic film. Great, creepy atmosphere and the use of actual deformed persons really adds a visceral kick that no other film has ever duplicated.

Not only a horror classic, but a simple classic of cinema.

Not really, but it's definitely very unsettling.

This is one of my favorite movies. I don't consider it scary nor unsettling -- just fascinating.

Awesome film. Once you've seen it, you realize what an important piece of history it is for basic American cultural literacy. There are so many subtle and not so subtle references to it in other films and on TV. How many times have you seen characters chanting "One of us! One of us!" and not understood what it meant before seeing this movie? I know they've done it on South Park, and The Simpsons at least once as well as other references.

Everyone should see this movie.

I know the references and all about the movie, but sadly, I've never seen it. I guess I should rectify that.
