This comes out the 24th, who's thinking of getting one?
I'm semi-skeptical, i was more skeptical before, but i had a customer come into my store with his japanese PSP, and we were watching Family Guy on it, and i dunno, it costs just as much as an IPOD, and i've been wanting a portable media player and portable video game system too. So i may just reserve a PSP just cause i can, but i dunno either, it IS sony, we all know how the first generation PS2s have been. I guess we'll see

My buddy in Japan brought one back during Xmas break, it was pretty awesome. The screen is spectacular. I couldn't play any games cause they were in Japanese though

Every company that has got a hands-on review of it says is jaw-dropping. It looks amazing, but I don't think it's worth the money. Graphics that good don't need to be taken on the road. Cell phone games are actually worthwhile since they're entertaining and cheap. I bought Prince of Persia : WW, and it's incredible for a cell phone game.

Tell me about it. How big is it? How did it play Family GUy? Can it hold songs? How many?
How big is it? Hmm...rough estimate its about 8 inches wide, i could be mistaken, the screen takes up most of that. How could it play family guy you ask? Well the guy had the family guy file on a memory stick and played it through there, thats also an answer to how many songs you can hold, its all through the memory stick, they make ones as big as a gig or so, so one of those will hold a good amount of songs

Is that how the games are played also? Through the memory stick?

If you have a big enough memory stick , technically you probably could play a full movie on it, but sony is going to make special cd's(I think they are about the same physical size of a Gamecube cd, but hold more information) for movies and games. I can't really see myself paying twenty dollars to buy a movie for it. You can find out more information here, http://www.gamespot.com/features/psplaunch05/index.html
I was thinking about waiting a bit to see whether to buy this or the DS, but after looking at all the cool games coming out for PSP, and the lack of games for DS, I am definetly going with the PSP. It seems much more versatile and powerful. Plus the DS looks like they are just going to rehash a lot of N64 games.

I think I read that you can download older games over the internet with it. I know you can play with up to 8 players with the new Twisted Metal game, but I don't know exactly how the multiplayer system works.

No the games come in a gamecube cd sized disc. Unlike gamecube discs though, these have a protective case over them, somewhat similar to the minidisc format (only looks way cooler though)

one big potential problem is Battery life, but dude who had his told me it lasted like 5 hours, which isn't TOO bad, if you're on a long long road trip then bring a car charger, i think its way less when you play movies though, i could be mistaken.
