Saw it last week. It's was pretty cool/creepy/funny. Soundtrack is out there.
Liz, did you take any meaning from this film/did the guys in the band cover any questions about it in the Q+A? I'm going to check it out the first chance I get and just let it wash over me like a Rothko painting. Thoughts?
Well, after experiencing it (because it really is an experience, yes you are sitting there watching it, but I don't know, it's something else) I understood why they called it a "visual album." Many of the vignettes (it is not a "movie" with one plot/storyline/etc.) reminded me of what I imagine when listening to AC. I didn't want to blink for fear of missing a moment. So many shapes, textures, colors.
The creatures in the film were played by the band! The soundtrack will definitely appeal to fans of their older material as it was quite experimental. Geo even said during the q+a that the "My Girls" fans probably won't "get it." LOL. It was like a HCTI/Spirit hybrid with MPP scattered throughout. Panda's solo parts are what I imagine Tomboy will sound like ^_____^
As far as meaning of the film, I honestly didn't get one. During the q+a, Avey said that there is no message that you're missing and that there's no linear connection or anything like that. Basically I guess ODDSAC was just a fun way for them to portray/envision their music through visuals.
a photo my friend took
p.s would not do shrooms to go watch this, dimejinky *shrugs*

You and the band's description make me much more excited for this. Pretty much exactly what I was expecting to hear. Experience>Meaning. At least for this particular phase in my life and developing worldview.

just from watching that clip (which i'm assuming is a mash-up of the entire 'album') i'd recommend not taking mushrooms...as you'd surely come to a point where you thought you had died and would then be luggage from such point onward.
