I'd pick For Your Eyes Only as the best overall. Goldfinger, Dr. No, The Living Daylights, and You Only Live Twice are all favorites, too. I love Moonraker, but I really wouldn't recommend it for a first-timer.

AVOID Daimonds Are Forever, View to a Kill, and especially Octopussy, depite the title.

I'd watch them all chronologically, but if you don't want to do that, make Goldfinger the first. That's where the formula was established.

Goldeneye for the best of the Brosnan ones.

im really psyched for the new film. Man with the Golden Gun is one of my favorites... You Only Live Twice is great too!

The last one that came out, with the guy with the diamonds in his face was just utter crap! Really had to suspend one's disbeleif to get into that one...

Her majesty's is great too!

But im just a huge bond fan anyway...

all of the bond movies are pretty stand alone, so you won't need to see one to understand any of the others...

my faves of each actor:
connery: thunderball, you only live twice, from russia with love

lazenby: on her majesty's secret service (duh, his only one) - this an entirely way underrated bond flick..

roger moore: the spy who loved me, for your eyes only

dalton: the living daylights

brosnan: goldeneye, tomorrow never dies

all in all though, i think every bond movie is worth seeing, even if to see how awful they can be (ahem, license to kill, ahem)

I thought License to Kill was pretty decent...better than Living Daylights

Bond is amazing. I didn't like him until I turned 22, and within two months I owned almost every movie on DVD.

My favorite Simpsons moment is when Homer works for the evil genius, and he inadvertantly helps him kill Bond.

Mr Scorpio! That is one of my favorite episodes... so many classic moments in that one, especially when bart is put into the remedial class with all those other misfit kids... I think the other kid banter went something like this:

"I start fires..."
"When I fell off of the jungle-jim I was in here"
"They think I'm slow, cause I'm from Canada, Ay?!?"

than the one kid starts to slowly pat bart on the back before winding up to slap him
hahahaha... love that one...classic!

getting back on the topic of Bond... saw a really cool trailer for Casino last night right before Borat... and I am really looking forward to this one!

BTW... way way back in the day... my dad joined this bond of the month club or something -my dad was a huge bond fan since Fleming's first book came out, so my dad got me and my brother's into 007 - so each month we would receive another bond VHS in the mail... really f'n cool... but have never upgraded to dvd...

now whenever 15 days of 007 comes on, no matter what im doing, regardless of the fact that I've seen them 1000s of times... i cant do anything but watch them...

so now these Ultimate Edition DVD sets are being released, obviously to coincide with Casino... does anyone know what the difference these dvds will be to the other two or three sets that we released when the last Brosnan film came out?

I think these would be great places to start the bond dvd set... but dont know if i should hold out for and eventual HD set, or Blue Ray...suggestions???

I dunno, but the new Bond is insanely built. He could snap most of the previous guys in half. Is Bond supposed to be that huge?

brosnan had every quality to be a great james bond... it's such a shame that every movie after goldeneye was so horribly written/directed. one of the reasons i'm looking forward to casino royale so much is martin campbell. daniel craig seems like a great bond.

Well, Bond is a special agent that came from the Navy, he is supposed to be well built.
