I went to see "Spanglish" this weekend and before the movie was a preview for a new kids movie about a dog and a little girl. It looks totally cheesy and gay.. but the interesting part is that it stars Dave Matthews as a man who plays songs for animals. His manager should be fired.

i look forward to the legions of people that will search extra hard to find reasons to think the film will be some sort of artistic statement and different from all the other crap out there, etc

For those that don't know the movie is "Where The Red Fern Grows." Remember the book that probably all of us read in 5th or 6th grade? :P

I assumed that's the movie Paulie Walnuts is talking about. I saw a commercial for it last night and it mentioned Dave making his acting debut.

Ah, okay. But "Where The Red Fern Grows" is his acting debut. :P I guess the singing to dogs bit should of given it away.

I believe that would be the link that Jim provided. I don't remember reading about a guy singing to animals in "Where The Red Fern Grows." But I did read it 9 or 10 years ago.
