A recent press release from Dreamworks has announced that Steven Speilberg has signed on as executive producer of a live action Transformers movie that has been scheduled for release in the summer of 2006.
It was also rumored at an earlier time that Tom Hanks might be somehow involved in the production.
The first Transformers is flawless. I think Steve should stick to his own orignal ideas and stop the remaking of old ideas which is so popular these days.

True. I remember them growing up, but the other day my younger brotehr was watching some Transformers cartoon on TV, and I couldn't recognize 90% of them. It sucked.

Yeah, it became another casualty of massive commericialization.
correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't it start out as a cartoon show in support of the action figures? i loved the transformers, but i don't think it was ever not an example of mass commercialization.

The first movie was incredible. I was blown away when characters were killed off.
Starscream's demise was a personal highlight for me. I am hopeful that Spielberg does not ruin the legacy.
