Was it really "hilarious?"
I can't wait to watch it, Louie is hands down the best current comedian

it was decent, but i think it's his weakest hour by a lot. i noticed at the end of the credits it said he'd be selling a show from his previous tour "word" as a cd soon. too bad there won't be a dvd, but it will be nice to hear that material again. i thought "word" was really strong - better than "hilarious" and maybe even as good as "chewed up." hard to accurately say having seen it from the first row at the chicago theater right after a great meal and right before some great sex.

in all seriousness, i highly recommend his show. it does contain a few stand-up routines peppered throughout the episodes a la seinfeld, but the tone and style of humor of the show generally differs greatly from his typical stand-up experience.
i can't imagine anyone giving louis c.k a fair shake without watching Louie first.
The episode where he went to Afghanistan was one of the best episodes of anything this year and I hope it gets some recognition.
just saw him a couple weeks ago. his new hour of work is pretty solid. in the encore he does this bit called "obviously. . .but maybe." it absolutely killed.
he has also become very adept at describing things with similes to make them even more hilarious. there were several in the show that spring to mind, but i'll share one: he did a bit about having to go wipe his ass. not take a shit. just wipe ass. he then described his asshole in a couple of different ways. one of them was it's like a bag of leaves that wasn't tied tightly and then some kid came by and kicked it.
