Here's a list of movies scheduled for release in 2005 that should be worth paying to see and/or talking about on RM:
Alexander
Star Wars III: The Revenge of the Sith
Batman Begins
The War of the Worlds
The Fantastic Four
Kingdom of Heaven
King Kong
Mr & Mrs Smith
Elizabethtown
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
The Brothers Grimm
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Sin City
Some of those sound good while others sound hopeless. FF is probably going to be tripe and KK is most likely going to be pus as well, but I hold high hopes for the final Star Wars film, Tim Burton's take on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Hitchhikkers Guide.
Other than SW I think the most exciting release of 05 should be Sin City. The cast alone is killer!:
Jessica Alba .... Nancy Callahan
Rosario Dawson .... Gail
Elijah Wood .... Kevin
Maria Bello .... Ava Lord
Bruce Willis .... John Hartigan
Benicio Del Toro .... Jack Rafferty
Michael Clarke Duncan .... Manute
Carla Gugino .... Lucille
Josh Hartnett .... The Salesman
Michael Madsen .... Bob
Jaime King .... Goldie/Wendy
Brittany Murphy .... Shellie
Clive Owen .... Dwight
Mickey Rourke .... Marv
Nick Stahl .... Junior/Yellow Bastard
This comic book adaptation is being directed by Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez. It should be awesome.

I am very much looking forward to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. What do you know (what have you heard) about Elizabethtown or The Brothers Grimm?
What do you know (what have you heard) about Elizabethtown or The Brothers Grimm?
Elizabethtown:
Written and directed by Cameron Crowe.
Cast: Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst, Susan Sarandon, Jessice Biel and Alec Baldwin.
Plot Outline: During an outrageous memorial for a Southern patriarch, an unexpected romance blooms between a young woman and man
Trivia: Orlando Bloom was Cameron Crowe's first choice for the part of Drew Baylor. Bloom was unable to take the role due to scheduling conflicts. Ashton Kutcher was then cast but was later let go due to bad rehearsals with co-star 'Kristen Dunst' and Crowe then pushed the film's start date back by a few months. Seann William Scott, Colin Hanks, Chris Evans, and James Franco all auditioned for the part but Crowe pushed to get the now available Orlando Bloom for the part.
Brothers Grimm
Directed by Terry Gilliam.
Plot Outline: Will and Jake Grimm are travelling con-artists who encounter a genuine fairy-tale curse which requires genuine courage instead of their usual bogus exorcisms.
Cast highlights: Matt Damon, Heath Ledger, Peter Stormare and Monica Bellucci.
Trivia: Nicole Kidman and Anthony Hopkins were cast originally, but both had to bow out due to scheduling conflicts.

Can the extended version of "Return of the King" rule more?
I knew they should NEVER have cut Christopher Lee's scene -- I knew it I knew it I knew it! It, the scene, however, is still not accurate (compared to the book). I won't spoil it though, you have to go read the section of the book, then watch the extended version.
Also, DUDE - I had NO IDEA Marilyn Manson was in ROTK! I don't remember that guy from the book.... I'm going to have to go back and do some research. But damn, what a TRIPPY SCENE!

The New World Director: Terrence Malick
Screenplay: Terrence Malick
Plot Outline: A Terrence Malick-scripted drama about explorer John Smith and the clash between Native Americans and the British in the 17th century.
I'm saying 2005, but that's just me daydreaming. Terrence Malick getting involved means it'll probably take 10 years, and since The Thin Red Line hit the cinemas in 1998, logic says this will be more like 2008.

Those both sound quite interesting...and anything directed by Terry Gilliam is worth seeing. Thanks for the info.

Is this one still scheduled for 2005? I haven't heard much about it in a while, so I was wondering if it got pushed back. I'm definitely looking forward to it, though.

Yeah, either November or December, I can't quite remember.
