Comedian Hal Sparks has a channel on this site Ustream that's a home on the net for doing all of this live video streaming stuff, and one of them recently was he and his best friend going live right as soon as they got home after seeing it at the theater that night, going on for like an hour of how insanely bad it was (I think the idea is they went out expecting this and wanted to see just how funny it could be). I was watching the video later on from his archives, I didn't get to see it all but most of it was hilariously, these two guys spontaneously ripping this movie to shreads of how totally incoherent it was.

Things do not end well, least of all for the audience, who may well slip out midway through to check out the infinitely more unnerving Yogi Bear.

The real cliff-hanger, though, remains Cage's career. How much indignity can it take?

Season Of The Witch was originally scheduled for a March 2010 release before being delayed and dumped in the January graveyard, but it probably shouldn’t have been released at all.

The real plague is the movie, a sci-fi hodgepodge of bad history and worse special effects. Director Dominic Sena allows the actors to mug outrageously in accents that range from fake British to bogus Jersey Shore. I may be making Season of the Witch sound like more fun than it is. Trust me, it's as bloodless as a starved vampire. Instead of a review, it deserves a stake in the heart. Die, monster, die.

Off the top of my head, I'm guessing that Season of the Witch claims a place in the top five all-time bizarre and pointless homages to art cinema.
I always think of movies like this one when people argue that critics aren't worth listening to. Not that the presence of Cage didn't tip me off that it wouldn't be worth seeing...

a lot of the reviews i read said it was bad, but not as bad as they were expecting. some even said that if it didnt have Cage in it, it would be ok. they at least make me curious about it.

Here is the archived video that Hal Sparks did with his friend I mentioned above. FYI, for the first couple of minutes they're talking, but the audio isn't working, but less than 5 minutes into it the audio gets working and they know it fucked up, so ultimately you don't miss any of the commentary.

Jorge, it's so fucking horrible but they are trying so hard to make it a legit film. It's hard to explain. And for the record, my date wanted to see this, not me. I am currently rethinking whether or not I will see her again.

Yea I mean from collective reaction I'm hearing so far, it seems like we're talking potential Battlefield Earth territory here.
I would say worse than Battlefield Earth. And there is a line muttered by a "demon" at the end of the movie that is so unbelievably horribly delivered, it's laughable.

The difference between this movie and Porch is Porch has a great MELODY. You know, a succession of notes that doesn't just halfheartedly fill in the gaps left by the guitar riff. A memorable, passionate, feverish buildup. A jam that-- yeah, sometimes doesn't really go anywhere, but is often really good. Lyrics that, although far from the height of lyrical prowess, DON'T sound written by that jackass from Sum 41.
