I'd pretty much go gay for Oldman if he wanted me to, he's on my list of "gods amongst insects" actors. I'd pay to watch him read the phonebook.

Criminal Law (a forgotten gem from the late 80's)
Dracula
The Fifth Element

You've probably seen the last 2, but talk about roles where he's just entirely another person (though this is often the case with him). He's been one of my very favorite castings of the Harry Potter series.

Just behind Leon / The Professional for my favourite performance from him.

I have shown this movie to several people who didn't even know it existed!?!?

Interestingly enough, Gary Oldman is NOT, in fact, Gary Coleman.

There has always been something about Gary Oldman that grabs my attention...

Movies:

The Professional (aka Leon)
The Scarlet Letter
Bram Stokers Dracula
Immortal Beloved
JFK

He is also in the upcoming Dark Knight movie...

Sid & Nancy.

Even Johnny Rotten wrote in his autobiography that he pretty much nailed the role of Sid Vicious.

Everyone's talking about how amazing Heath Ledger is going to be in the Dark Knight, but if there's one actor that people are sleeping on, its Gary Oldman. I really expect his character to truly shine in this followup. He was killer in Batman Begins, so with further plot development and more screen time, he'll fucking own that role as Gordon. Sorry Pat Hingle.

Nice thread. He's definitely one of the best actors out there. Too underrated or overlooked. I've never seen him in something and thought he sucked or was miscast. I'd also check out his role as the warden of Alcatraz in Murder In The First. That scene where he slices Kevin Bacon's character's achilles with the straight razor makes me cringe every time I think about it.

"Now see, we're sittin' down here, ready to negotiate. You've already given up yo' shit. I'm still a mystery to you. But I know exactly where your white ass is comin' from. See if I aks you if you want some dinner, and you grab the eggroll and start to chow down I say to myself this motherfucka, he's carryin' on like he ain't got a care in the world. And who knows... maybe he don't. Maybe this fool's such a bad mothafuckaaa, he don't got to worry 'bout nothin'. He just sit down, watch my mothfuckin' TV. You ain't even sat down yet. Man that TV over there since you been in the room there's a woman with her breasteses hangin' out, and you ain't even bothered to look. You just lookin' at me. Now I know I'm pretty. But I ain't as pretty as a couple a' titties."

it's definitely one of the biggest "under the radar" movies of the last 20 years or so. Whoever was in charge of marketing this one dropped the ball big time. Awesome cast...
