Top 5 worst films made by overrated directors
1) Dancer in the Dark (nobody can beat Von Trier in this game) 2) Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Tim Burton, where have you gone ?) 3) Dogma 4) Who knows ? (I cant stand this movie and Rivette is really boring) 5) Broken Flowers (What have you done Jarmusch ?)
And also top 3 really great movies that you think nobody ever heard of 1) Lone Star (by John Sayles) 2) Box of Moonlight (Tom DiCillo) 3) Les Apprentis (the Apprentices? by Pierre Salvadori)

You're kidding! That movie is top-notch! Quintessential Jarmusch!
Well, at least we have one movie where we disagree. Given all the hype surrounding the movie, I was expecting something really exciting but Broken Flowers really bored me. And normally I enjoy Jarmusch as much as anyone else but this was a disappointment for me. I guess that Murray's acting has something to do with it, I thought he played effortless, didn't put something ambiguous in his performance in that one.

The reason I ask is that I always get the feeling Jarmusch is aping Hellman, consciously or not. If you get the chance you should at least check out Two Lane Blacktop. Actually from the looks of amazon.fr it seems you guys have it pretty good in regards to Monte Helman dvds. They have this box set with most of his better films: http://www.amazon.fr/Coffret-monte-hell ... 552&sr=1-1

Of those films Two Lane Blacktop and Cockfighter are easily my favorite, in part because they both feature Warren Oates, who is one of my favorite actors. The latter film actually manages to make cockfighting look really beautiful.
