I thought this show was surprisingly fantastic. Awesome elements of magic realism. Tremendous potential.

Kinda weak for a series premier, but I like the character development and the supernatural element of the show. I think this has a lot of potential.

John reminds me too much of that annoying dude in that annoying show 3rd Rock.

It was ok, I think everything is a bit too over the top for me. Everyone just accepts this new guy being around, the language, the gay guy, the levitating. I don't know what to make of it but I will watch next week. If it doesn't get somewhere next week I will probably stop watching.

it was 1000x better than the previews for it... i thought it was gonna blow, but was pleasantly surprised how much i enjoyed it... ed o'neill is the shit

It dragged. I think that this series is one that will become clearer and get better about 3-4 episodes into it.

I don't know HBO tends to stick with things, I mean look at how long they kept Arliss on . And with David Milch behind it, it will probably have legs.

I wasn't expecting much out of this show from the previews, but I was suprisingly intrigued once I started watching. I wish I could run into John and ask him to pull a few million out of his pocket.

hbo seems to be pretty trigger happy as of later... deadwood got cancelled (a milch project!) and carnivale (their best series still in my opinion) got axed as well. The whole new line-up of shows they have looks ripe for chopping block to me.

To be honest, I hadn't relised either Deadwood or Carnivale had been cancelled. Those two never really appealed to me.

I really wish they would keep going with Rome, that was my favorite of the period pieces.

it would have been nice to have one more season... i thought they spent a little too much time building the climax of season 2 and then too little on the execution in the past few episodes. Then again, it's nice that they were focused for only a short time, as some shows tend to lose steam after too much time... I thought six feet under was reaching a little during those last 2 seasons.

Yeah, Six Feet was worn pretty thin by the time it went under, the whole Nate/Brenda thing near the end was maddening.
But an extra season of the Pullo/Vorenus and bunch would have been nice.

for sure.. one of the main factors of carnivale getting shut down too... at least J from C looks like a show that wouldn't require a huge budget. i'm interested to see where they go with it.

I really wanted to like it but it kinda sucked...I'll give it a try for the entire season though....I didn't like Carnival, Deadwood, or Rome in the beginning either and those are three of the best shows ever. You have to stick with HBO series....they are decompressed story telling in the extreme, but they almost always turn out good.

My gut feeling says that this show will be canceled by the end of the summer. Just wait for the return of Curb Your Enthusiasm and all will be good again.

I liked that one. I just figured John would be the one to bring Sean back to life though. Who is Ed O'Neils character anyway, is he the brother of Rebecca DeMorneys character? I must have missed that somewhere.
