i don't know, maybe this is a girly movie, but it's really sweet. Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn play married people who hook up at the same place once a year. shows how they change, the world changes. and has a great S/T.

Alan Alda is one of the most underrated actors in film history.

This is one of those movies that I think about when I was a kid and my mom and dad going out on a Saturday night to see after dinner out.

This is a film that I think is really stuck in its time period and it's hard to relate to today. Not just the specific events that the couple lives through from the 50's to the 70's, but the whole idea that one could carry on a romantic affair for 20 years in this manner as being in any way believable seems a product of the early sexual revolution. It's a good plot device, and teh acting is excellent, and the issues that the characters deal with are very interesting and timely. The movie kind of just ends though, with a lot left unresolved, but I guess that's part of the point.

Geez, Dave, can't you just appreciate the simplicity of it? what's to be resolved?
