Add in people trying to fuck each other and dudes with laser swords and you've pretty much got the entire history of cinema.

My friend is taking a War Movies class and I was kind of miffed that neither Paths of Glory nor The Thin Red Line were included in the curriculum. Though they are under "also suggested."

It's on there. If you left that out you'd basically have to resign as a professor.

Apocalypse Now is my favourite movie ever. I dont even consider a war movie, its more like...something that happens in the middle of a war.

I can understand not having The Thin Red Line on the schedule, because it isn't very good. But not showing Paths of Glory during a war films class is ridiculous.

The combat is definitely really well done. Not super intense like SPR but still very realistic and the deaths are sudden.

all SPR has going for it are those visceral battle scenes. the story is pretty blah.
