Man on Fire (2004) with Denzel Washington. Anyone seen it? I've rented it twice. It's so good. And yet, I still don't know if I understand the theme. I know that theres a theme there, but I cant put my finger on what it is. Anyway..It's a damn good, tragic movie. I love the camera work.
Not to mention to one-liners in there.
"Do you have any wishes? I wish you had, more time"
"Grease's art is death. He's about to paint a masterpiece"
Man I love this movie.

I would have liked it more if Tony Scott hadn't directed it.
Do you not like Tony Scott's work in general, or just in this film?
This film more than others. I'm a fan of his work in Crimson Tide, True Romance, even Last Boy Scout. He really started to dabble with the hyper-kenetic quick-cuts and over-saturated-color with Enemy of the State and Spy Game and took it to the extreme with Man on Fire and (shudder) Domino.
The story of Man on Fire was a good one, and I didn't think it needed Scott's distracting style. It really hindered my enjoyment of the film. It's one of those cases where I think Ridley Scott would have been better suited for this kind of story, especially seeing the footage so far of American Gangster. Damn, can't wait for that.
